Currently, your content must be in X3D format to upload it to the Virtual Gallery. Other formats like WRL, KMZ are planned but not supported yet.
Your content may be GZIP-compressed X3D, and we recommend such compression to make your scene load faster.
Your content may be FX3D-encrypted X3D (in order to make its internals confidential), with the extension .FX3D.
Your content may be a zip-archive of the main file called model.x3d or model.fx3d, a thumb.jpg, and all filedependencies, with the extension .XIP.
No uploaded file can be larger than 8 mb. Please try to keep your content under 1 mb to help insure a quality end-user experience.
If your content uses secondary files (textures, audio or movie files, protos) they must either be in the same folder as the X3D file, or complete URLs pointing to other servers. The upload process will examine your scene and find these secondary files, and ask you to upload local copies.
The content name will be automatically generated based on your X3D file name, but you may change it. Names of new scenes should be different from any other scenes you have uploaded before, but can be the same name as someone else's model.
If you upload content with the same name as one of your previous content, it will become a new version of that previous content. Note that if anyone has already pasted HTML codes for your previous version, they will still see the previous version. To upgrade to your new version, they need to re-paste the HTML codes, or just edit the version number inside the codes.
At this time you will need to generate your own thumbnail image (automatic generation is in the works). Please make it a .JPG file, a roughly square shape will work best in the search pages. Please don't upload images larger than 256x256.
By submitting your content you agree to the Terms of Service, which includes a definition of acceptable content.
